Extracurricular Activities at KSA
Basketball
KSA is the proud home of the Hornets Basketball Teams. We have 3 competitive middle school basketball teams here at KSA that participate in the Jewish Day School League (JDSL). There are 2 Boys teams, Varsity and Junior Varsity, as well as the Girl's Travel Team. All students in grades 6-8 are eligible to play. All 8th grade boys, however, must play on the Varsity Boys Team. Our season starts just after Thanksgiving and culminates with a league tournament in early March for those teams that earn a spot.
At KSA, we are also fortunate to have many talented former college level players who volunteer their time to help coach and teach the players to become better players and teammates. Under the supervision of Steve Greenberg, our Athletic Director and one of our coaches, our Hornets have been able to earn 2 berths into the tournament, in all but one year, since the league was formed 10 years ago. |
Instrumental Lessons
Now in its 20th year, the KSA extracurricular music lesson program continues to offer an outstanding opportunity for students to study both instrumental and vocal music while at school.
Private, half-hour lessons are given once a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 3:00-5:30. Instruction is offered in strings, woodwinds, brass, guitar, bass, voice, piano, and drums. The annual June recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for the students to showcase their musical abilities and accomplishments for both family and friends. The KSA music lesson program has produced many fine instrumentalists over the years, some of whom have distinguished themselves by qualifying and participating in Southeast District Band, the Massachusetts All-State Band, as well as the Greater Boston Youth Symphony.
